The Traditional Dublin Pub Tour
No Tourist Bars
The Brazen Head, The Hairy Lemon, The Temple Bar. We are going nowhere near these tourist bars on my pub tour. Instead, we are going to the type of traditional pub that has made Irish pubs famous throughout the world.
We Go To Old Pubs
Most of the pubs you'll go to are over 100 years old and filled with local Irish people. You'll be drinking with local Dubliners. Be warned, they're very friendly, be ready to chat to the person next to you at the bar.
Nearly everyone is drinking Guinness in these bars, because they've been pouring these pints for so long that they have perfected the pour. It takes patience to watch the Guinness settle, but it's worth it.
No Tour Is The Same
Each tour is different, depending where you're staying, what night of the week, what you like. Depending on the night, we may go to a pub with Irish music. I'll explain the background of each song. We all know the words to every song. We're raised on these songs. It's our history and heritage.
More Than Drinks
This isn't just a drinking tour. You'll learn about the history of each pub, how to become a regular in your local pub, why bar stools are designed the way they are, what a snug is, why pubs are so important in Ireland (and it's not about drinking), about a lock-in, the raised finger, how to find the best bar wherever you go in Ireland. You'll learn a lot about Ireland & our culture on this tour.
