Dublin’s Most Beautiful Walk Direct From Your Cruise Ship

Skip the busy buses & walk along the sea
From March through September, over 80 cruise ships bring 128,000 passengers to Dun Laoghaire. It's busy.
Picture the scene. Your cruise ship docks in Dún Laoghaire/Dublin. 3,000 passengers rush to get off the ship, then wait in line to be herded onto one of the waiting dozens of buses. Only to sit in Dublin traffic en route to a crowded tourist site. Half of their time in Dublin is spent getting to what they see.
Instead, you stroll off the ship where I'm waiting for you. No one else. Then we go for a walk along the sea full of fresh air, not exhaust fumes.
The best of Dublin is right there where your cruise ship docks in Dun Laoghaire. But 99% of passengers miss it. They're too busy rushing to wait.
Dublin's Most Beautiful Walk
We walk along Dublin's stunning coast line, through real local Dublin villages. This is a wealthy part of town. It's got the houses, cafes and atmosphere that comes with that. You'll hear some history, but more stories than facts. Stories that will give you a real insight into Ireland.
You'll see real Dubliners go about their day. You'll see them swimming in the cold water. See them walking in the park. We'll stop for breaks. You'll look out at islands with 6th century ruins. We'll pass by Bono's house and enjoy the same views he does across the magnificent Killiney Bay. Ireland's version of Sorrento.
You won't see another cruise passenger on this walk.
But when you're back on the ship that night having dinner, at least pretend to be interested when your fellow passengers tell you about all the fascinating museums they rushed through in Dublin.
Time For The City Too
Then we'll take the train back to Dublin City where you'll have all afternoon to see our 1000 year old Viking city. I'll go with you on the train so no maps or apps needed. See more suggestions on what to do in the city further down the page.
Or you can stay by the sea, because it's nicer out here. Up to you.
I'm Darragh, a Dublin local who shows cruise passengers the real Dublin. I'll give you the perfect Dublin day that combines coastal beauty with city highlights.

- About 100 metres!
- How far will we walk in Dublin?
- 7km with lots of stops and breaks. I've brought 15-75 year olds on it.
- How do we get back to the ship
- The DART train station is directly in front of the cruise terminal in Dun Laoghaoire. It takes just 20 minutes to get into the city and from the end point of our walk
- Why choose a private Dublin shore excursion over cruise ship tours?
- Because my tour is unique and local. You won't see another passenger from your ship on our walk. It is very off the beaten track. But beautiful. I'm very confident that mine is the best Dublin shore excursion from Dún Laoghaire?"
- What happens if my cruise ship arrival is delayed in Dublin?
- I'm one of those travel geeks who has a ship tracking app. Whether you're arriving on Viking, Norwegian, Princess, Celebrity or any other cruise ship, I'll keep an eye on your ship and adjust our walk to fit any delays.

"The Sea Tour by Darragh is fantastic. He is full of local history and very patient with us slower walkers. High recommend as you see the REAL Ireland!!"
"Darragh met us right at the ship and showed us the most beautiful parts of Dublin we never would have found. The coastal walk was stunning and his city tour was so much better than the ship excursions we went on. We felt like we had a Dublin friend for the day!"
"Best shore excursion of our entire cruise. Darragh knows Dublin inside and out. We saw the real city, not just tourist spots. Highly recommend!"

What You'll See on Your Dublin Shore Excursion
What To Do in Dublin In The City
You've done enough walking so I've picked out some things to do in Dublin that let you rest while seeing the city.
The Afternoon Tea Bus Tour
See Dublin from a vintage bus while enjoying posh afternoon tea! It's tourist-y but fun and you see a lot of Dublin while eating.
Dublin Irish Whiskey Museum Tour & Tasting
You're in Ireland, you have to try some whiskey. I know Jameson is the famous distillery but it's not very central and time is precious today. I want you see a lot but without being rushed. The Whiskey Museum is as central as it gets.
Guinness Storehouse
I have yet to meet a person who came to Dublin and didn't go to Guinness, even non drinkers. Take a ten minute taxi to Guinness. You can go through it in 90 minutes. You have to book this ahead of time because it's so busy.
Dublin Hop On, Hop Off Bus
I made a bit of fun of this earlier, but that was more about the chaos getting on the ones the cruise line organizes in Dun Laoghaire.
If you're already in the city, this is the best way to see as much as possible in a few hours. Don't even get off, just let it bring you around the city and show you Dublin.
