Ireland's Best Seafood Restaurants Picked By Our Michelin Chefs

The Irish Independent just asked Ireland's Michelin-starred chefs where they eat on their day off
Clare is the Seafood Capital
Vaughan's Anchor Inn & Linnane's Lobster Bar were each recommended three times. Clare is a hot spot it would seem. Combine your time at the Cliffs of Moher with a reservation at one of these restaurants. A very good friend of mine is a well known chef from Clare and he says all the tourists who go to Doolin are missing out on the real Clare charm in Liscannor. Stay in Liscannor instead!
Howth is another popular area with cliffs, King Sitric there gets a recommendation. King Sitric has highly rated accommodation too. Perhaps spend a night there, enjoy a meal and the calm of Howth after the day trippers have left. Come on my walking tour when you are in Howth!

Dublin's Best Fish & Chips
Fish Shop in Smithfield is also picked three times. I am a simplicity lover and their tiny menu is a joy to read (quickly). I chuckle when I read people recommending tourist traps like the Hairy Lemon or Brazen Head as having the best fish & chips in Dublin. Let them go there while you head to Fish Shop, although I almost hesitated sharing this because it's small and I don't want it ruined.
Go for a wander around nearby Stoneybatter afterwards, a one street village filled with food spots. Or catch a movie at the Lighthouse Cinema, this isn't a multiplex. It's a more civilized type of place.
It's well known that I'm not a fan of Temple Bar, but Klaw there gets a pick for its lobster roll. It's in the quiet end of Temple Bar. I used to live across the road. Pick up a book at the wonderful Gutter Bookshop afterwards.
You could have a cooking class & dinner in a local Dubliner's home!

Sea Shanty's By the Sea
Blackrock in Dublin is somewhere I've been meaning to go spend an evening myself and write a post about it. It's another of Dublin's beautiful coastal villages never visited by tourists. I pass through it all the time on my way to do my Coastal Dublin walking tour. It is home to the 2 Michelin star Liath and its chef, Damien Grey, recommends Sea Shanty in the same village. It can be hard to get a reservation at Liath (The Irish word for grey), so go to Sea Shanty instead. Stay for the evening and enjoy the bars in this sophisticated village. Then take the Dart train back to town.
The Michelin Restaurants Themselves
You get not just a list of the best seafood restaurants in Ireland as picked by the pros, but you also get a list of their own Michelin-starred restaurants too!
